By using only calves that are produced in “Betty's” own beef herd we are able to control the production of our product basically from the time the calf is born until it is finished, processed and purchased by you, our valued customer.
Within a few hours of each calf’s birth they are identified using three different methods that are all recorded. This means of identification is used both in the record keeping system for production records and for the production of “Betty’s Got the Best” Growth Hormone and antibiotic free beef. This means of identification is the backbone of our quality control system.
I am morally against the use of growth hormones and I do not use them in any part of my beef production system.
Sometimes Mother Nature can occasionally throw farmers a curve ball and we have to treat an animal with veterinary prescribed medication to save its life. Once this happens to an animal, it is immediately red flagged through the three methods of production records. It is marketed through other marketing avenues and never goes back to the finishing area of “Betty’s Got the Best” production.
All cattle are fed locally grown forage and grains, no animal by-products, and are grown out slowly until finished at eighteen to twenty six months of age. When an animal is finished for market it is processed at a local abattoir who following my cutting and wrapping criteria, provides you the customer, with the best beef eating adventure of your life.
